"I've never played the dragon quest series, this was my first playthrough. Just a game I decided to get while traveling. Simple turn based dungeon crawler. Similar to final fantasy games . Not too much thought into the gear, story was simple. I've beat the game and gone on to DQ2 which is this game, improved and story continued. Looking forward to playing all the games."

"Portrait mode is stupid for this game. The exact same port for the Switch is in landscape. The Final Fantasy ports on Android allow you to switch between portrait and landscape modes. WHY CAN'T DQ1 DO THIS?????"

"Loved this game on the NES and this is a very good port. So many people dislike the controls, but they worked great for me. There's also few layout options, so no worries. Portrait (as this game is) vs landscape is another thing other reviewers complain about. Either way works for me, so this is another non-issue. It's old school, so there's a bit of grinding and you HAVE to talk to everyone (and remember what is said!). Overall, highly recommend if you're into old school, turn based rpg's."
