Love-hate relationship: 💘 Some users rave about the app, calling it the best and "super cool." Though, they're quick to point out occasional bugs and glitches. 🤖 But hey, no better alternatives, so they're down for the ride! 🎢
Mixed feelings: 😬 Others find it "sort of okay." While it's technologically brilliant and generates cool SVG images for gifts, it's not quite perfect. On some devices (cough Samsung Galaxy flip 6), the selfie camera always kicks in. So you end up awkwardly turning your back to the peaks you want to identify. 😅
Tech tweaks: 🛠️ Adjustments are needed here and there. Some users manually tweak the horizon because, let's face it, the compass can be a drama queen. 👑
Great outdoors companion: 🌲 Many find it a great trail partner. It's especially nice for those who need it offline. But be warned: tiny text and whisper-thin lines might make you squint harder than Clint Eastwood. 👀
Yay! 🎉
Meh... 🤔
Or maybe... No way! 🚫
Highly recommended! 🌟 Peak Finder is like having a personal mountain expert in your pocket, especially if you're into hiking and hills. But if you're hoping for perfection, you might have to settle for occasional goofs and quirks. 🤷♂️
"Best app"
"Super cool app. It has been fairly glitchy and buggy at times, but I don't know of any better alternatives, so I'm still happy to have it."
"sort of okay"
"This is, in every way, outstanding. Such a brilliant use of the technology that lives in your pocket. I have used this all over the world, generated SVG images from the website to create gifts for friends."
"It's a very nice app and especially being able to use it offline. I enjoy using it in my other devices, but in my Samsung Galaxy flip 6 ...by default, it uses the internal selfie camera, instead of the main camera 🤦♂️ ...so basically, I need to turn my back to the peaks and find out which peaks are there ... ridiculous!!! Would appreciate a bug fix for this"
"Works very well. Great surprise! You can manually adjust the horizon if it isn't too accurate with the compass. Amazing!"
"Does what it says, I love it's simple clean UI"
"Great app on the trails."
"Better than most with room for improvement. Its hard to read outdoors because it's black and white with whisper thin lines and tiny text (would be nice if text could magnify). The field is view doesn't precisely line up with what the eye sees. You have to try to first find a peak you can match up then go from there. My biggest criticism is that the silhouettes of the peaks are a bit lacking in detail so for example clearly jagged peaks look quite rounded in the app making them harder to ID."
"Great app"
"Useful in identifying peaks"
"Stunningly helpful app, it has helped us get to know our new home area. If you enjoy hill walking it is excellent. Keeps getting better, love the distance feature. Update, finally travelled a bit and this app has been wonderful. Basically if you haven't got it yet, get it"
"App seems to work fine, although I am really confused by dual language in the peaks names in my vicinity - one is English (of course), but second is Russian (!) - not local language (Georgian) as one would expect. Even more disturbing is that Geortiga is in fact in partly occupied by Russian military... A bit strange to say the least."
"love it."
"An excellent app"
"Never finds the peaks you point it at. It tells you that mountains that are south of you are the ones you know to be north of you. Only shows you giant peaks dozens of miles away instead of the names of peaks that are right in front of you. Always needs a huge update every time you open it. I paid for premium some time ago thinking I'd use the heck out of it on my many hiking weekends all around SoCal, yet it disappoints nearly every time I want it to do the cool things it is supposed to do."
"superb at identifying peaks in the distance. Works great all other US and Canada"
"Super helpful app"
"Peak Finder is an incredible app for outdoor enthusiasts. Its accurate peak identification, offline functionality, and detailed panoramas make it an essential tool for hikers and adventurers. Highly recommended."
